Are you bored of gravity? Got a head for heights? Fancy following in Tim Peake’s footsteps and going into space?

Well, here’s an opportunity for you. From today until February 18 next year, NASA is accepting applications for a new class of astronauts.

The required qualifications, as listed on the US government jobs website, are as follows:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, biological science, physical science, computer science, or mathematics.
  2. At least 3 years of related professional experience OR 1,000 hours flight time as pilot-in-command on a jet aircraft.
  3. Ability to pass the NASA long-duration astronaut physical, which includes eyesight that’s ‘correctable to 20/20’ in each eye.

Oh, and you’ve got to be a US citizen, so sadly that’s us limeys ruled out. NASA expects to announce its final candidate selections by the middle of 2017.
