Ship World Youth 2015

212 youth from 11 countries around the world (112 Japanese participant youth and 100 overseas participant youth) will experience the opportunity of a lifetime by gathering in Japan and boarding the Ship for World Youth to be part of a number of activities in the framework of international cooperation and cultural understanding.

 

The Global Youth Leaders Development Program “The Ship for World Youth Leaders” (hereinafter, “SWY2015”) consists of onshore, onboard, and overseas training sessions. The aims of this program are to deepen the mutual understanding through the international discussion and cultural exchange with those from various countries, to develop the ability to deal with different cultures and the communication skills, and to improve leadership and management skills by listening to the seminars by experts and planning activities by themselves, and furthermore, to broaden global views as well as to strengthen their spirit of international cooperation, and as a result, cultivate youth who are capable of exercising their leadership skills in various fields in the globalizing society.

Participating countries for the SWY2015 will be:

  • Japan
  • Kingdom of Bahrain
  • Federative Republic of Brazil
  • India
  • Republic of Kenya
  • New Zealand
  • Sultanate of Oman
  • Republic of Peru
  • Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
  • Republic of Turkey
  • United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

After the Overseas activities on board the Ship for World Youth, Japanese participants visit different foreign countries. This year, Peru will be one of the hosts of these Japanese missions abroad.

Japanese Missions will visit:

  • Kingdom of Bahrain
  • New Zealand
  • Republic of Peru
  • Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
  • Republic of Turkey

Tentative Schedule

1. Itinerary from the Arrival Day of the Overseas Participating Youth until Embarkation

January 21st: Arrival of the overseas participating youth (OPY) to Japan January
23rd – 25th: Local Program + Homestay in a Japanese Prefecture (Nigata Pref., Shiga Pref., Nara Pref., Kagawa Pref., and Miyazaki Pref.)
January 26th – February 1st: Onshore Training Program
*OPY stands for overseas participating youth, JPY stands for Japanese participating youth. Audience with H.I.H. the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, courtesy call on the Prime Minister, are scheduled during this period. Institutional visit and Tokyo City Tour will be arranged during the Onshore Training Program.
2. Itinerary from the Departure Ceremony to Disembarkation and Departure from Japan (Onboard Training Program)

February 2nd: Transfer to Yokohama port by bus / Embark the ship / Departure ceremony / Departure from Port of Yokohama
February 3rd – 12th: Onboard Training Program: Sailing + Port of call activities at Naha (Okinawa pref.) and Ofunato (Iwate pref.).
February 13th: Port of Tokyo, Disembark the ship/ Transfer to Narita Airport/ Depart Japan
3. Itinerary for Overseas Training Session

February 2nd: Transfer to Yokohama port by bus / Embark the ship / Departure ceremony / Departure from Port of Yokohama
February 14th – 20th: Overseas Training Program
February 21st: Return to Japan for JPYs.

*The overseas participating youth shall join the two-day exchange program with the Japanese participating youth upon returning to their countries.

Note: The schedule is subject to change due to various conditions.
